Jeff Cawley has worked with the development and application of quality control systems in laboratory and production. He has been active in the AOAC, IFT and IAFP, and has written and spoken on automated food safety and quality management.

Dave Miller has 30 years experience in manufacturing operations and inventory related software. His clients include industry giants such as Cargill, Dairy Farmers of America, Riceland, and Roche, as well as mid size and small operations. He is a frequently quoted expert on commercial and regulatory track and trace requirements and their operational implications and implementations.

John Surak works with industry and governmental agencies in applying the principles of quality and food safety management (FSM). He leads the US delegation to Working Group 8 of ISO Technical Committee 34 that developed ISO 22000, which defines the requirements for a FSM system. He has managed nutritional process and product development for Wyeth Laboratories and served as VP of Quality and Food Safety for the Brooks Food Group. John is a professor emeritus of applied economics and statistics at Clemson University.

Food processors now face the need to implement a modern Food Safety Management System (FSMS). Both the pending US food safety legislation now working through Congress, and the increasing commercial requirement of Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) compliance, will place food safety and traceability management demands that will overwhelm any paper-based, non-integrated system. The cost- effective and time efficient way to meet these requirements is an integrated electronic system that automates the operational functions of food safety and quality management, traceability and compliance.

This webinar will:

Examine the requirements of the proposed food safety legislation and the GFSI and how these can be met by the integration of commercial off-the-shelf systems for food safety, quality, traceability and compliance management. Not only does this approach make your compliant FSMS more efficient and effective, it will reduce corporate risk and total cost of ownership.

What you will learn from this webinar:

  • GFSI and food safety legislation are based on structured HACCP based food safety systems.
  • Meeting these requirements quickly overwhelms paper based systems.
  • How does one specify and implement appropriate food safety and track trace systems?
  • New techniques and solutions that allow companies of any size to meet existing, new, and upcoming traceability requirements - without destroying their bottom lines.
